We designed this Childcare Centre in South Auckland’s newly-developed Paerata Rise suburb. It’s a community with the look and feel of an established country village but with all the modern benefits of an urban environment.
Aesthetically the building comprises pared-back pitched roofs over simple timber clad volumes - referencing the materiality and form of the farmhouse vernacular.
Each space has been designed to support the learning and development of different age groups – Infants, Toddlers and Preschool. The internal environment is connected to a challenging outdoor area, to encourage physical outdoor learning while building the children’s independence and self-confidence.
